Basic Clinical Educational Psychologist

This private organisation is seeking a Basic Grade Clinical Psychologist to work within the area of Autism. Services that are provided are within day care, residential, home, school and training settings. Psychologists receive professional support and training from a multi-disciplinary team. Within this autism area there are opportunities to work in the child, adult and family services. There is a strong obligation to provide continual training and to gain knowledge within the overall context of career development. They are seeking people who have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities:
•Participate in multidisciplinary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
•Providing an effective psychological service as appropriate to the above client group in line with current best practice in the diagnosis and treatment of children with ASD.
•Providing counselling and therapeutic support to children as required either individually or in groups including promoting inclusion and involvement.
•Providing support, advice and training to parents both individually and with other team members
•Assessing, monitoring and evaluating service user needs at regular intervals through the process of Individual Programme Planning. Participating in Case Conferences, Reviews, Team meetings, and other meetings as required and ensuring accurate records are kept and reports made as required.
•Developing and evaluating individual Education Programme systems for children in conjunction with parents, multidisciplinary team and teaching staff
•To engage in joint work with other team members in delivering support services to children, parents and siblings
•Maintaining and promoting good communication and good relationships with all other disciplines and staff within the Services and networking and developing positive working relationships with professional support staff, relevant agencies and organisations.
•Providing written reports and summaries on work completed
•Keeping informed on current developments and thinking in the field of ASD by attending training courses and seminars and through professional literature.
•Keep abreast of current legislation and how it impacts on services to children and adolescents with ASD.
•Sharing knowledge with other disciplines through interdisciplinary work and formal presentations
•Accept supervision from senior psychologist.
•Keep supervisor informed of service needs and policy issues.
•Engage in research into diagnostic and intervention methods in autistic spectrum disorders.
•Developing community awareness of Autistic Spectrum Disorder
•Provide training for parents, teachers and other professionals in ASD.
•Participate in individual and team Assessments of Need in line with current legislation
•Communicate with other disciplines in relation to recent developments in the area of psychology.

Requirements:
•Must hold a degree or diploma in Psychology
•Validated to work in Ireland with the Department of Health & Children.
•Ideally have minimal of 1 year's experience.
