Our client is an established multinational insurance company with a strong and established presence in Ireland

Job Description:

- Develop and maintain an effective framework, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial services regulation and legal requirements and responsible for delivery of statutory reporting requirements in terms of financial statements and regulatory returns.

- Develop and maintain financial management and control systems to enable informed business decisions to be taken which focus on shareholder value.

- Ensure that the members of the team under the function holder's direct control have the appropriate skills, training and experience to effectively discharge their duties to meet the objectives of the function and broader needs of the business.

- Responsible for understanding and supporting finance aspects of operational business performance

- Development and execution of a financial plan together with management, challenge and reporting of expense management

- Work with senior management to help drive the delivery and adoption of any necessary changes in line with the improved organisation’s operating model.

- Develop and review the analysis of business performance against plans and recommend appropriate actions, to the business.

- Manage the relationship across the European business units.

- Lead the finance perspective on the completion of any special projects and ensure all resources within the finance team are effectively managed.

- Contribute to the company’s investment committee responsible for oversight and management of corporate investment issues.

- Contribute to the company’s risk committee responsible for oversight and management of risk.

- Staff development and performance reviews.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

- A qualified accountant or equivalent qualification with experience in Irish GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.

- Experience of the financial services sector, ideally life assurance business.

- Experience in planning and tracking workflows.

- Experience in a fast moving environment and the ability to prioritise effectively.

- Ability to take initiative and to work to a brief as appropriate with experience in delivering to high standards.
