Senior Speech and Language Therapist

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•To be responsible for the organisation of Speech & Language Therapy Services within a specific geographical area and/or a specific client group/s where applicable.
•To be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and management of clients referred to Speech and Language Therapy, presenting with intellectual disability.
•To train and supervise other therapists assigned to him/her by the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
•To demonstrate positive commitment to the development of his/her own professional skills, and within the Speech and Language Therapy Department generally.
•To contribute to the development of Speech and Language Therapy within the client group/s as designated by the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
•To submit annual Service Plans to the Principal Speech and Language Therapist and to conduct regular service audits of Speech and Language Therapy Services within a client group/s as required by the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
•To attend and work the days and hours at the centres to which he/she is assigned, and other such centres as the Principal Speech and Language Therapist or Chief Executive Officer may direct from time to time, subject to review.
•To assist other Speech and Language Therapists and students in the practices and principals of Speech and Language Therapy.
•To perform such administrative duties in connection with his/her work (keeping records, statistics etc.) as may be assigned by the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
•To be responsible for the general safety and maintenance of any equipment supplied for the Speech and Language Therapy Services.
•To manage budgets as assigned by the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.
•To participate in any courses (if required) organised by the Executive, or other such courses, which the Executive nominates him/her to attend.
•To perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Chief Executive Officer, which may include deputising for the Principal Speech and Language Therapist.

Requirements:
•To be validated with the Department of Health & Children if studies were completed outside Ireland.
•Ideally 3 year's post-graduate experience.
•Possess B.Sc. in Clinical Speech and Language Studies or equivalent.
•To have experience assessing, diagnosing and treating children with intellectual disabilities.
•Ideally should be interested in updating their skills and embracing new knowledge and ways of working.
