How to choose your massage
There are many different types of massage, Swedish, Thai, Sports, Amatsu, Chair, etc. How do you pick the best one for you?
First, pick a qualified and experienced therapist. They will be familiar with many different styles and can help you choose what's right for YOU.
Find a location that's right for you. Somewhere that's close enough to travel to, or has good parking and facilities.
A good atmosphere is important. A professional therapist will have dedicated treatment rooms, with heated beds, soothing music, relaxing scents and candlelight to help you relax and enjoy your treatment.
Unfortunately I often hear complaints from clients who have booked a treatment elsewhere and been sorely disappointed with the atmosphere, price or treatment itself. Ensure that your therapist is registered, qualified and insured. Because of lack of regulation, the only way to do this is check the official registers.
Two good starting points are:

Talk to your therapist. They can explain the difference between the different styles and find the one, or combination of styles, that's right for you.
Swedish: This is a classic massage, performed with oil, it's nice and relaxing for all over aches and pains.
Sports: Not just for sportswomen and men, this one can really sort out specific problem areas, shoulders, neck, legs, etc.
Thai: Usually performed on the floor, it's sometimes described as assisted yoga, with lots of stretching.
Chair: Also known as on-site massage, this uses a special chair to give people a seated massage, concentrating on neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands. It's especially appreciated by office workers.
